Freshly cleaned
sheets are the best way to end your day, but cotton sheets tend to get
wrinkles (especially when they are brand new). The default way to fix this
problem is to iron them, but that can be time consuming and troublesome. So
to help you out, we complied a list of tips and tricks to help you make your
sheets a lot less wrinkled!
- Prevention can be best: One of the best ways to keep
wrinkle free sheets is to attempt to prevent them from wrinkling in the
first place. Make sure to untangle your sheets before putting them in
the washing machine. Use low temps for the washer and the dryer. Try to
line dry them if possible, because the weight of the water helps
keep it straight while drying. Also make sure not to overload the
washer or dryer, do one sheet set at a time if possible. Remove it
promptly from the washer and dryer at the end of each cycle.
- Wash Regularly: Washing regularly can help
reduce wrinkles because when the sheets are new, their fibers can be
stiff. However, with regular washing, they become more relaxed and can
become softer and less prone to wrinkle! Plus who doesn't love the feel
and smell of freshly laundered sheets!
- Steam: Using a clothes steamer wand
to get out wrinkles is a sure way to fix your problems! These work
really well, but can be a tiny bit inconvenient because you typically
have to hang the item to steam. It is a little harder to hang a
sheet to steam than it is to hang a shirt, however it's not as bad
as ironing!
- Spray: Put the fitted sheet on your
bed and make sure it's good and tightly fitted. Take a spray bottle and
spritz the entire sheet lightly, including the sides. Don't over-soak
the bed, you just want to dampen the sheet. Take your hands and rub out
the wrinkles and leave it to dry. Then do the same to the flat sheet on
top. If possible, do it in the morning so that it has all day to dry. It
might not take away every wrinkle, but it is an easy and simple
solution to reduce the wrinkles.
- Towel Trick: Make sure your wrinkled
sheet is on your mattress and wash some dirty towels. After they are
done in the washing machine, put them in the dryer for about 10 minutes.
Take them out of the dryer and lay them hot and still steaming on top of
your wrinkled-sheet made bed for a few minutes. Take the towels away and
give your bedding a little shake, and then the wrinkles will disappear
and the dampness will dry in no time!
