There is a LOT of misconception and confusion about what
thread count is “best.” While many consumers believe “the higher the
thread count, the better,” this is not necessarily true!
Thread count
refers to how many threads are running horizontally (the warp) and
vertically (the weft) in one square inch of fabric. To achieve a thread
count of higher than 400, super fine threads are twisted together and
then woven to create fabric. Over time, with use and laundering, these
twisted threads can begin to break apart from each other. The result is
thin places in your sheets because the fabric is not woven as tightly as
it once was. For this reason, textile experts generally agree that single
threads woven together result in better fabrics. We use single pick,
100% cotton for our RV, Airstream, and Home sheets. We choose our
fabrics carefully, to give you the best product we can produce at the
most reasonable price. We also offer sustainably sourced GOTS
certified organic cotton sheets. Our cotton fabrics offer the perfect
blend of affordability, softness, and durability, ensuring years of
comfort and reliability with proper care. When shopping for
sheets, thread count isn’t the only factor to consider! Here’s what
really counts: - Material:
The type of fabric matters most. Cotton (like Pima or organic)
is known for its softness and durability.
- Weave:
Percale offers a crisp, cool feel, while sateen provides a smooth,
silky texture. Choose based on your preference for texture and
warmth.
- Breathability:
Look for materials that are breathable to ensure a cool, comfortable
night’s sleep, especially if you tend to sleep hot.
- Durability:
Single-pick cotton weaves and quality fabrics last longer and
withstand washing better than high-thread-count alternatives.
- Fit:
Make sure the sheets are the right size for your bed—deep pockets
are essential for thicker mattresses!
At AB Lifestyles, we
use the finest materials, like Pima cotton in our Venetian Italian sheets
and GOTS certified organic cotton in our Nature's Trail sheets.
