What size is an RV twin/bunk bed? Bunk beds are the smallest size you’ll find in an RV, and are designed to fit one person. Unlike residential twin/bunk mattresses, there is not one standard size for an RV bunk mattress but a range of them. The width will generally vary between 28 and 34 inches wide and between 72 and 75 inches long. Some bunks sizes fall outside these size ranges though, so it’s important to measure your bunk bed carefully to make sure you get the correct size.
What size is a three-quarter bed? Slightly larger than the twin/bunk mattresses but smaller than the full-size RV mattress; the three-quarter mattress measures 48 inches wide by 75 inches long. It is a great option for tight spaces that won’t comfortably accommodate a full-size RV mattress. A three-quarter mattress is narrower than a full, so it’s perfect for couples who like to snuggle or a nice option for single sleepers who want a little more space to spread out.
What size is an RV full bed? The RV full is the smallest mattress size in an RV that will comfortably fit two people. It is typically the same size as a residential full/double mattress measuring 54 inches wide by 75 inches long. In an RV, there’s no standard width – it can vary from 53 to 55 inches wide so be sure and measure carefully before ordering.
What’s the difference between an RV queen, short queen & residential queen bed? An RV queen and residential queen both measure 60 inches wide by 80 inches long. A common size in RVs is the short queen mattress. The short queen is the same width as a regular queen but is five inches shorter than a regular queen size mattress. This is one of the most popular RV mattress sizes as it provides ample room for couples without taking up too much space.
What’s the difference between an RV king, short king & residential king bed? RV king size dimensions measure 70 or 72 inches wide by 80 inches long, which is slightly narrower than a residential king mattress. The RV short king measures 72 inches wide by 75 inches long. More and more RV manufacturers are designing RV floorplans to accommodate king size mattresses so that traveling couples have the same amount of sleeping space as what they’re accustomed to at home.
Depth matters! So if my mattress is the same width and length as a residential mattress, can I just buy a residential mattress for my RV? Not necessarily. RV mattresses tend to be thinner than residential mattresses to fit into tighter spaces. That’s why AB Lifestyles offers mattresses from 5.5” up to 10” in depth. When measuring, be sure to measure the height of your existing mattress as well as any obstructions like built-in nightstands that could restrict the height of your mattress.
